Paris is a cosmopolitan city where the people are wearing a wide range of clothing styles. However, Parisians are famous for their fashion forwardness. Even though you are a kind of person who is fashion-oriented, your style may be different from the true Parisians. This is the basic tips that I have listed for you.

  1. Choose neutral colors.
You will never go wrong by wearing black. Actually, black is the color that most Parisians adore. As we all know, black makes you look slimmer. It is also always in style and really versatile since it can be paired with any color. If you don’t like wearing black, you can try the other neutral colors such as beige, cream or brown.
  2. Accessorize your look.
You can only bring your basic clothing items. To make it as your fashion statement, you can add some accessories like necklaces, scarves or earrings are such a popular item for Parisian because it is very simple yet able to pull outfit together easily. Paris is a good place to find great souvenirs. You can get silk scarves in the hottest color and pattern of the season for to 10 Euros at some stands outside the Printemps or Galleries Lafayette.
  3. Don’t wear leisure wear.
The comfortable clothes you usually wear in your house like sweatpants or nylon windbreakers are not supposed to be worn outside the outside in Paris. To dress casually in your comfortable clothes may be considered as disrespect.
It is also important for you to dress your age. Dress neatly and nicely to make yourself get better treatment in public places like shops, cafes or restaurants.
Even during the summer, Parisians don’t wear shorts. Parisian men usually prefer wearing pants that have mid-calf length and also made of light materials. the tops they wear during this hot season are short-sleeved buttoned-down shirt or they will simply wear a T-shirt
  4. Wearing jeans is okay.
It is becoming trend in Paris compared to few years ago when the only ones who wore jeans are teenagers. Some restaurants even have lessened the dress code and allow the worker to wear jeans. However you cannot just pick your denim randomly. Parisians have their own pick on jeans. They tend to wear a pair of dark slim fit (a bit skinny) jeans or slight flare.
  5. Wear your shoes comfortably.
Pick the shoes that you think is the most comfortable for you to wear. However, it doesn’t mean you can also wear you white tennis shoes. Almost all of Parisians prefer wearing black and when you wear your white shoes, it can be very easily noticed that you are a tourist. And you can be a great prey for pickpockets because it is like you have a big sign on your head saying that you are a tourist and is likely to be easy person.
When they are exercising, they don’t wear traditional tennis shoes, but slim fitting fashionable sneakers made of canvas or other materials instead.

Follow the rules and you will definitely get the Parisian look!
